The Failure of the Individual

Is any myth perpetrated with as much vigor and radicalism as the doctrine of individualism? Throughout the modern era an idea, an idea of individual worth has been perpetrated throughout the world and has spread like a plague among all people. Indeed we live now in a time where decadence and social decline take the agenda over progress and success. How is it that a nation can serve so heavily to blind itself too the truth of the world?

There is no point in the natural cycle of life in which a human being is a creature based on its “individuality”. Our very existence as a human being comes out of cooperation, indeed every aspect of nation and culture depends upon cooperation and social cohesion to function. Without these concepts all we have is anarchy, death and destruction. Why is then that we insist so readily on casting aside this great truth and attempting to pursue a course of blind arrogance above all else?

Human beings need conflict, they need division but equally they must be unified and cooperative in said conflict. The nation state is a physical manifestation of an ethnic, political and cultural identity; this unity has proven itself time and time again to be the maximum stage at which true cooperation can be effectively attained. At this level so much can be accomplished; space flight, the steam engine, industrialization, the list goes on and in every instance we see cases of not just individuals but a whole society coming together with one goal, to make itself stronger. While pure unity is utterly unworkable at the international stage, alongside conflict and indeed war it attains an ability to motivate and drive people to greatness, greatness we have since cast aside and lost.

This idea though seems to be ever the more forgotten, a relic of a long lost age. An age of progress, cohesion and success now cast aside as on a nation level as the British people discard the ideals which uplifted them to the great pedestal they now hold as outdated, even when the global evidences points to the alternative. Instead we accept decline, we accept destruction and we cast ourselves to the waste bin of history like some kind of lame stallion waiting to be put down and out of its misery. Indeed the idea of sacrifice, to give up one's individual comforts for the greater good, is now lost upon all. History shows again and again it is the people willing to make sacrifice, willing to saddle the burden of conflict who emerge victorious are those whose nations works as an efficient cooperative unit.

It cannot be the case, the mighty lion which was the British Empire cannot be permanently tamed and I refuse to believe it. Even the oldest beast has one last roar within it, one last chance to attain greatness and I say now is the time to perform it. The time is ripe to stand united and make the push to regain the greatness which has been stolen, by foreign subversion and trickery, from us. The time is now to retake all that has been lost and like we have done dozens of time in the past, move against the odds to the victory we are entitled. There is nothing more certain, more guaranteed and indeed more necessary for British victory and control on the global stage and no cost is to high, no hurdle to large and no chasm to wide if crossing it will grant us back a position which is rightfully ours.

Winston Churchill, perhaps the epitome of the British spirit, once said the following; “Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty.” Why is it then that we have resigned ourselves to giving up? If there are two things that the United Kingdom has held throughout its history are an unstoppable spirit and an everlasting commitment to unity. We cannot discard these ideas; not now, not ever and a ongoing want by so many to discard 1,000 years of progress in the face of a dozen of hardship is treasonous at best. If there is one message I can leave upon the people of this nation it is one again to “never give up” for even if all we have now is one tiny spark of hope, it is all one needs to move mountains and perform the impossible. United we stand, divided we fall and now is a time above all others where we must stand united and strong in the face of defeat and nothingness...
